A car was completely destroyed after it caught fire near Kharegaon Toll Naka on the Kalwa-Mumbra Road in Thane district of Maharashtra, officials said on Sunday, adding that the driver of the vehicle escaped unhurt in the incident. Pics/RDMC

According to the Thane Municipal Corporation’s (TMC) Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), the incident took place at around 2.15 pm on on the carriageway heading from Thane towards Mumbra
After noticing the fire, the driver immediately stopped the vehicle on one side of the road and stepped out safely as a precautionary measure
Fire brigade personnel from the Retibandar Fire Station rushed to the spot along with one fire engine and a rescue vehicle
The fire was completely extinguished by around 2.50 pm with the help of firefighters and disaster management teams
