The 35-ft effigy will be set ablaze on Monday evening, with Rang Panchami celebrations following on Tuesday

The effigy’s burning symbolises the triumph of good over evil

Youngsters from Shree Vighnaharta Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal in BDD Chawl, Worli 76 and 77, craft a striking devil effigy for the upcoming Holi 2026 festival – ready to burn evil in the traditional bonfire

The civic body has advised residents to use only dry wood for the traditional bonfire and to avoid burning painted wood, plastic, rubber, tyres or any hazardous materials. It has warned that burning such items releases harmful smoke and causes air pollution, which can affect public health

Housing societies and local communities have been encouraged to organise eco-friendly celebrations, it said.
