On Monday, heavy rainfall lashed Mumbai, disrupting daily life and bringing traffic to a crawl across several parts of the city. In Andheri (West), pedestrians were seen trudging through flooded roads along Swami Vivekananda Road near the Andheri Subway, as relentless downpours led to waterlogging in low-lying areas. In response, the Mumbai Traffic Police issued an official advisory warning commuters about slow-moving traffic and long jams across key stretches, especially in the western suburbs
The advisory urged citizens to avoid waterlogged routes wherever possible and opt for alternate travel plans until conditions improved
The ongoing rainfall, coupled with clogged drainage, added to the growing frustration of drivers and pedestrians alike, many of whom were left stranded in traffic for hours
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Mumbai until 1 PM and forecasted moderate to intense spells of rain in isolated locations across the districts of Thane, Raigad, Mumbai, and Ratnagiri over the next 3 to 4 hours
BMC workers were seen clearing drainage covers on Swami Vivekananda Road near the Andheri Subway in Andheri (West) to help water drain out more effectively and ease waterlogging in the area
