Commuters faced major challenges navigating through the waterlogged roads, with many forced to abandon their vehicles or seek alternative routes

The inundation severely affected traffic flow, causing long snarls and forcing several vehicles to stall due to water entering engines

Shops and commercial establishments near the area were also impacted, as the rising water levels encroached upon footpaths and storefronts

The civic body deployed emergency response teams, and pumping operations were initiated to clear the water, but the sheer volume of rainfall overwhelmed existing drainage systems

This situation has highlighted the urgent need for upgraded drainage and flood management infrastructure in urban centres like Mumbai, which are increasingly vulnerable to climate change-induced extreme weather events
