Mumbai recorded an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 83 at 9:05 AM, as per the SAMEER app. Bandra Kurla Complex registered a 'good' AQI of 81, while Byculla, Malad and Borivali posted readings of 63, 68 and 67, respectively.
Other areas like Chembur, Ghatkopar and Mazgaon also showed 'good' air quality, with AQI levels of 63, 66 and 75. Kurla, however, recorded 'moderate' air quality with an AQI of 105.
In the adjoining areas, Navi Mumbai displayed a 'good' AQI of 98, while Thane registered a reading of 66. According to CPCB standards, an AQI between 0 and 100 is classified as 'good', while 100 to 200 is 'moderate', and higher levels are deemed 'poor' or worse.
Despite the favourable air quality, residents faced oppressive heat, with maximum temperatures touching 34.1 degrees Celsius. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast a mainly clear sky for Mumbai on Monday, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 34 degrees Celsius.
The Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 33.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.8 degrees Celsius. In south Mumbai, the Colaba observatory reported a maximum temperature of 34.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 26.2 degrees Celsius, under clear skies.
