How the Khaana Chahiye initiative is combating hunger in Mumbai

The nationwide lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic was announced on 24th March 2020 with very short notice. Several daily wage laborers and migrant workers were left without jobs, houses, and even two-square meals a day, overnight. At this time, a citizen-led, non-profit organization based in Mumbai called Khaana Chahiye was founded on 29th March by 7 citizens. The aim of the organization was to combat the issue of hunger through relief efforts and advocacy initiatives. Mid-Day spoke to Ruben Mascarenhas, one of the co-founders of Khaana Chahiye, who shed more light on the citizen-led initiative. Watch this video for more.
