SP College's âBell' grabbed the second position and MIT College clinched the third position with âKa la kana ka'. Maharashtriya Kalopasak, Pune, the organisers of Purushottam Karandak inter-college one-act play competition declared the result online yesterday night.
Bharat Natya Mandir at Sadashiv Peth was packed with college students and dignitaries since Saturday morning to witness the performances of the top nine colleges - from among the initial 51 - that had entered the final round.u00a0In individual categories, Garware College of Commerce student Manas Layal won the prize for best student writer for the play âChocolatecha Bangla'.u00a0
Tanvi Kularni who has played the lead role of a mother in this play achieved the award for best acting. The competition marked its 50th year. Veteran actor Madhav Vaze has been observing the contest since its very first edition. "Earlier the topics were family-related matters, including love affairs. But I am witnessing a paradigm shift, as today's generation is more interested in social issues. At all the three levels - content, acting and use of technology, every play that entered in the final round was excellent."u00a0
