Four people were dead and 13 injured when a speeding tourist bus hit a BSF van on Sunday night
Four people died when a speeding tourist bus hit a van carrying eight BSF jawans in south Delhi on Sunday
night. Of them, there were two civilians and two jawans.u00a0
Ranbir, the driver of the van, and Deepak, a deputy commandant of BSF, were killed on the spot, while the civilians who died have been identified as Sanjay and Surender.
The eight BSF jawans were reportedly returning from Meerut to Delhi on a Swaraj Mazda van. They were heading towards Chirag Dilli from the Moolchand side on the BRT lane when a tourist bus coming from the opposite direction hit them.
A man on a scooter and two people on a motorcycle were also hit in the collision. According to an eyewitness, Satish Kumar, the accident took place around 11:20 pm.
"I was on night duty. I tried to stop the PCR vans crossing by, but no one stopped to help. I dialled 100, but to no avail. People near the accident spot came forward and helped me in pulling out the bodies from the van. We then took the injured to the AIIMS Trauma Centre."
u00a0"Till now 13 people have been brought to the hospital. Out of which four people were brought dead. The wounded have suffered grievous brain injuries and multiple fractures," said Sushma Sagar of AIIMS Trauma Centre.
One of the jawans, Paritosh Biswas, was first taken to Moolchand Hospital, but was later shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre. He sustained head injury.
The hospital authorities have identified the injured as Laxman Singh, Lakhbir Singh, Balwant Singh, Ravinder, Devender, Hemant, Inderjeet, Satya Prakash and Pramod.
