An Airhostess announcing safety precautions before take-off is routine for frequent fliers.

Travel Light! An aircraft from the Jet fleet

But, perhaps for the for the first time, hundreds of passengers were allegedly told by the flight crew that they had forgotten to load the catering section and there was no food on board.

The shocked passengers were on Friday's Jet Konnect Kolkata-Bangalore flight.

Late take-off

The aircraft was scheduled to take off at 6.15 am and was late by about half an hour. Soon after take-off on Friday morning, the crew allegedly apologised for not having any food on board. Jet Konnect is a budget airline where passengers have to buy their food.

"What about children and the ill, who need to eat on time?" wondered B T Seshadri (50), a senior executive who travelled by that flight.

He was among those banking on having breakfast on board, and was exhausted by the time he arrived at Bangalore.

Denial

However, the airline spokesperson said, "No such incident occurred. We have checked and there was adequate food and choice of meals."
