BSF officers exchange sweets with Pakistan Rangers at Wagah Border

In a bid to promote harmony, Border Security Force (BSF) officers on Sunday exchanged sweets with Pakistani Rangers to mark the 65th Republic Day at Wagah border


Amritsar: BSF personnel distributed sweets to Pakistan Rangers, a tradition which is practiced every year as India celebrated its 65th Republic day on Sunday.

"Today, on the occasion of the Republic Day, we presented sweets to Pakistan Rangers. This is a tradition across borders.

We share such moments of happiness with our counterparts so that there is peace and harmony," said Deputy Inspector General of India''s Border Security Force (BSF), M.S. Farooqui.

The 65th Republic Day was celebrated across the country in the spirit of patriotism and brotherhood to showcase unity in diversity on Sunday.

President Pranab Mukherjee unfurled the tricolour, and took salute at Rajpath. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was the Chief Guest at the celebrations.

The Indian Air Force showcased awe inspiring flight formations in the grand finale of Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi.
