Ten wagons of a goods train derailed at Adarki village near Satara on Wednesday, which led to disruption of rail traffic, affecting services plying from Pune and Kolhapur


Satara: Ten wagons of a goods train derailed on Wednesday at Adarki village near Satara which led to disruption of train traffic plying from Pune and Kolhapur.

The incident occurred at 5.25 am when the train was on its way to Kolhapur carrying goods, groceries, grains and vehicles. the Railway police immediately rushed to the spot.

A railway officer speaking to mid-day said, "It will take a lot of time to clear the track as the place of accident is an isolated area with a narrow path. The other trains plying on the same route have been diverted. Koyana Express and the passenger trains plying from Kolhapur, Satara and Miraj has been cancelled while Yashwantpur Express (Bengaluru), Nizamuddin Express and train plying from New Delhi have been diverted."

He added, "The team is working to make the track back to normal but will take time. The exact cause of the incident could not be ascertained."
