BJP corporator Ujjwal Keskar and MNS corporator Rajendra alias Babu Vagaskar condemned the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) school board in a different way at the PMC Standing Committee meeting held over the
weekend.

They staged a demonstration by writing slogans in red ink on their kurtas before committee chairman Avinash Shinde, PMC Commissioner Mahesh Zagade and other members.

Months of delay
Keskar said the resolution of preparing school uniforms was passed by the Standing Committee in a meeting held in February. "How can they take so long to provide uniforms when the school sessions started about a month back," he said.

According to Vagaskar, the school children require 4.6 lakh metre cloth that should be stitched by the Women Group works for saving money. "The Education Board had violated these basic norms," he said.

Deputy Chairman of PMC school board Vijay Renuse said distribution of school uniforms had started three days ago and that all students will receive uniforms soon. He said that the delay was due to the model code of conduct in the recent MLA election.

"As the number of students is so big it will take time," he said.
