Man robs finance firm of Rs 8.73 lakh with toy gun

An unidentified man armed with a knife and a toy pistol allegedly robbed Rs 8.73 lakh from a microfinance company in Pimpri on Tuesday night, after the firm refused his mother a loan.


According to a complaint filed by Pradnyawant Shrirang Patode (32), manager of Ujjivan Micro Finance Pvt Ltd that is located on the fourth floor of a building opposite Baba Hardas Mandir on River Road in Pimpri Camp, the man entered the office at 8.15 pm wearing a monkey cap and threatened the women staff with a knife and a pistol.

Loan refusal trigger
He shouted at the staff for refusing his mother a loan and told them to put all the cash in his bag. "As the employees were scared, they took out the cash worth Rs 8.73 and put it in his bag. As soon as the employees gave him the money, he dropped the pistol and knife and fled," said Patode. He said that when the pistol was checked, it turned out to be a toy. u00a0Senior Police Inspector Mohan Vidhate from the with the Pimpri police station said that the microfinance company did not have CCTV cameras or a security guard. u00a0"We have formed a team to cathc the suspect and we are confident he will be in our net very, very soon," Vidhate said. u00a0
