Authorities on Friday suspended mobile phone services in Kashmir Valley, snapping both call and internet services on these appliances. Officials said the step was taken as a precautionary measure ahead of the flag hoisting and parade to celebrate the country's Republic Day. Sources said the services are likely to be restored in the afternoon.
Following intelligence reports about the presence of a non-local female suicide bomber in Srinagar city, authorities are taking no chances while securing the venue of official functions in the city and at other district headquarters.
