A few months ago, Municipal Corporator Vinod Shelar had written to the Mayor and the Municipal Commissioner to have a governing body and set rules for private pre-primary schools, but nothing has been done yet.
NB Chavan, deputy director, school education, said, "Even if there is no governing body for private pre-primary schools, the department will intervene and take appropriate action."

Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Sunil Dhamane, however, said, "I am not aware of any such notice of motion and will check with the concerned officer about this."
The PTA's united forum demand that the State intervenes in the working of the pre-primary schools and set up a regulatory body to whom parents can complain. Arundhati Chavan, president of the PTA United Forum, said, "Our forum has been continuously writing to the state. Anyone can open a pre-primary school in the city."
