A few hours before the release of Padmaavat, the Mumbai police swung into action yesterday, and made preventive arrests of over 100 Karni Sena members across the city. Padmaavat releases today across the nation. Police took the action as the Karni Sena continues with its aggressive stance to stall the release.

Mumbai Police PRO DCP Deepak Devraj confirmed the arrests and indicated that more could be made with a view of maintaining peace. The top brass of the city police has already made it clear that all precautions will be taken to avoid any violence in the city. Police have also indicated they will provide security to theatres if necessary.
