Sachin, Dhoni on rubber stamps!

Cops stumped to find 10 rubber stamps in the name of star cricketers such as MSD, Tendulkar, Kohli and Raina during a drive that led to the arrest of a mobile dealer in Dharavi who was selling connections based on fraudulent documents


On Saturday, the Dharavi police arrested an Aircel mobile SIM card distributor for allegedly selling SIM cards on forged IDs. The police have also seized 10 rubber stamps with names of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, R Ashwin Rohit Sharma, Vijay Telecom and India Mobile.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dhananjay Kulkarni, Suresh Devrakkam Nadar (35), a Dombivli resident, runs Vansu General Agency opposite Dharavi police station.


The police recovered 324 photographs and government documents such as Adhar cards, photocopies of passports and election cards, and rubber stamps with names of famous cricketers

After receiving a tip-off On May 16, sub- inspector Rahul Rakh, constables Devdutt Saroktte, Gyaneshwar Dhadwad, Chandrakant Bobade and Vinod Padman, raided Nadar's shop.

The police seized 324 photographs of people, their ID proofs such as Adhar cards, election cards, photocopies of their passport and other government documents. Nadar sold SIM cards based on these documents and forged signature.

However, what came as a surprise were the rubber stamps with names of cricketers and large companies.

" We are still investigating what Nadar was doing with the rubber stamps. We will write to Aircel to verify matters," said Rahul Rakh, investigation officer.

The police has arrested Nadar under sections 465, 466, 468, 471, 472, 473 and 474 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court remanded him to police custody till May 21.
