Sena urges Mah Speaker to revoke suspension of 14 MLAs

Shiv Sena today urged speaker Dilip Walse Patil to intervene in revoking the one-year suspension of 14 Opposition MLAs from participating in proceedings of the Legislative assembly.

Sena leader Subhash Desai said each MLA represents 3-4 lakh people and the elected representative is not able to highlight the issues concerning the constituents. "This is injustice to the people," he said.u00a0

Leader of Opposition Eknath Khadse felt one-year suspension was "too harsh" and it should be revoked. He urged the Speaker to talk to the government in this regard.u00a0

Walse Patil said the role of a presiding officer is very limited in such case. "I will take the initiative to convene meeting of both the government and Opposition leaders to find out solution to the issue," he added.u00a0
