The NGMA is organising a gallery walk called the History of Sculpture in Indian art as part of its art walks.


The NGMA is organising a gallery walk called the History of Sculpture in Indian art as part of its art walks. Participants will be taken through the section where sculptures are on display and explained the history of sculpture in India.



How did sculpture as a form develop in India will be one of the questions answered during this talk along with discussions on the various schools of sculpture such as the Calcutta Progressive School, Bombay Progressive School and regional schools of sculpture with a stress on post independence evolvement of this genre of art.

Also, one of the points of discussion would be on the fact thatsince sculpture as a form is not illustrative asu00a0 painting, how does this form deal with various ideologies and principles of art.u00a0
