Rahul Gandhi referred to Godse’s ideology in his rally, which didn’t go well with the BJP

The Lok Sabha election poll campaigns in all four constituencies of Pune district officially come to an end yesterday as the city gears up for election day tomorrow. BJP targeted Rahul Gandhi for mentioning Nathuram Godse, Mahatma Gandhi's assassin, in his speech in a rally held in the city yesterday.

"Rahul deliberately mentioned Nathuram Godse in his speech. This is the culture of Congress. If someone commits a crime, then this party punishes the whole caste/religion to which the convict belongs. They have also done it in Delhi with the Sikhs after the assassination of Indira Gandhi," Pradeep Rawat, election campaign head and former BJP MP said.

Rahul in his speech spoke of Godse's ideology and emphasised that Congress believes in the Gandhian ideology. To this, Congress LS candidate Vishwajeet Kadam said, "He was speaking about the ideology and not about any specific person. As this is the election of ideologies, Rahul just referred to it to make a point."

Certain of wining the elections, Kadam said, "I am sure that from all six state assembly constituencies, I will be in the lead and will win the election with a margin of 1-lakh votes."

BJP's Pune Lok Sabha candidate Anil Shirole said, "During my campaigns in the last three weeks, I observed that people have anger in their voices against the corrupt system and governance. The public has already decided to vote for change. Hence, I am sure that I will win the elections."
