Out of 17,80,365 students registered, 17,68,968 appeared and 15,07,109 passed the examination.
Girls achieved 88.86 per cent, compared to 82.13 per cent for boys - a lead of 6.73 percentage points. Transgender candidates recorded a perfect 100 per cent pass rate.
The Pune region, which covers Mumbai and most parts of Maharashtra, recorded a pass percentage of 87.32 per cent.
Maharashtra had 577 schools and 332 examination centres this year.
In Delhi, the West region achieved 92.34 per cent and East region 91.73 per cent. Trivandrum region topped the national chart with 95.62 per cent, followed by Chennai (93.84 per cent) and Bengaluru (93.19 per cent).
In a landmark initiative under the National Education Policy, CBSE implemented full-scale On-Screen Marking (OSM) for Class 12 evaluations - the largest such exercise in the country so far. A record 98,66,622 answer books were evaluated digitally.
The move has brought several key benefits including complete error-free evaluation, elimination of totalling and posting mistakes, greater transparency, reduced human intervention, and enhanced secrecy as answer books no longer need physical transportation. Teachers have welcomed the system, describing it as more accurate, objective and eco-friendly.
Over 94,028 students (5.32%) scored 90 per cent and above, while 17,113 students (0.97%) scored 95 per cent and above. Among institutions, Kendriya Vidyalayas recorded the highest pass percentage at 98.55 per cent, followed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas at 98.47 per cent.
A total of 1,63,800 students were placed in the compartment category (9.26%).
CBSE exams were held from February 17 to April 10, 2026 (52 days) across 19,967 schools and 7,573 centres nationwide. The board offered 120 subjects - the highest among any national or international board.
