Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar ZP member seeks protection wall at hill cliff

A member of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Zilla Parishad has demanded construction of a protection wall along the hill cliff, from where three members of a family fell to their deaths last week.

Sambhajinagar ZP Finance Committee Chairman Sachin Garad made this demand, saying several people have died by suicide from this point over several years.

The incident

Tragedy unfolded in the Tisgaon area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on August 21 when three members of a family - Murlidhar Chandgude, 48, his wife Sangita, and their 19-year-old son Kunal - died after falling from Khavdya Hill.

Official speaks

Garad said, "In the past four years, 12 -13 people have died by suicide from here. Recently, three members of a family died here. This happened when representatives of the administration and others were convincing the youth. Over the years, this place has become a suicide point."

"To prevent recurrence of such an incident, I am going to take up this issue with the state government through the district administration," he added.
