Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has questioned the utilisation of the PM CARES Fund and urged Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to consider using its corpus to improve school education infrastructure across India.

In a video on social media platform X, Dipke referred to a report highlighting that the PM CARES Fund had a corpus of around Rs 8,500 crore at the end of the 2024-25 financial year.

The CJP founder questioned why the funds could not be utilised to address infrastructure deficiencies in government schools, particularly when children across the country continue to raise concerns and demand better educational facilities.

"Why are we not utilising the PM CARES Fund to improve school education infrastructure?" Dipke asked, arguing that the corpus could potentially have a significant impact on government schools in both rural and urban areas.

'Rs 8,500 crore could build 1,000 schools'

Dipke said that even if the construction of one school were estimated to cost Rs 8 crore, a corpus of Rs 8,500 crore could theoretically fund the construction of around 1,000 new modern and high-tech schools.

He questioned the contrast between claims of inadequate funding for school infrastructure and the existence of thousands of crores of rupees in the PM CARES Fund.

"On one side, the government says there are not sufficient funds for schools, while on the other side, thousands of crores are kept like this," Dipke said in his video.

He argued that improving school infrastructure should be treated as a priority, particularly in rural areas where students may lack access to adequate classrooms and other basic facilities.

CJP founder calls on citizens to urge PM Modi to use funds

Dipke also appealed to citizens to raise the issue with PM Modi and urge the Centre to consider deploying the PM CARES Fund towards strengthening education infrastructure.

He said that the money could be used to enhance schools in rural as well as urban regions and provide children with better educational facilities.

On Tuesday, Dipke urged Maharashtra ministers, MLAs and MPs to send their children to village schools for at least one day so they can experience the difficulties faced by rural students, many of whom walk several kilometres to attend classes.
