The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday demanded that students who participated in protests over the NEET paper leak issue should not be harassed by authorities, reported the PTI.
Speaking after reaching his hometown in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dipke also sought action against those responsible for ordering the use of pellet guns during a protest march at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
Addressing reporters, Dipke questioned the use of pellet guns against student protesters and said such measures should not be used against citizens.
"Students are not terrorists. They are the future of the country," he said, demanding an inquiry into the decision to use pellet guns during the demonstration, according to the PTI.
He said action should be taken against anyone responsible for issuing such orders, irrespective of their position.
Dipke alleged that students who participated in protests were facing pressure from authorities in several states.
He claimed that police teams were visiting the homes of students and threatening them with arrest.
"The government should stop troubling students. Their future should not be affected because they raised their voice through democratic protests," he said, as per the PTI.
Dipke said the student movement would continue if the government failed to address their concerns.
He warned that a larger agitation could be launched if students continued to face difficulties.
According to him, the protest movement was not only against an individual minister but against wider concerns over examination irregularities and accountability, the news agency reported.
Dipke returned to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar after spending nearly 40 days away, including around 36 days at Jantar Mantar in Delhi during the agitation.
He said he was happy to return home and meet his family after the conclusion of the nationwide protest movement.
The CJP founder also visited the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar near Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University before going to his residence in the Waluj MIDC area.
Dipke also criticised the proposed Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, saying that effective implementation of laws was more important than introducing new legislation.
He questioned the progress of paper leak investigations and referred to delays in court proceedings.
He said the government must ensure speedy action in examination fraud cases and restore confidence among students.
