The court expressed displeasure over several illegal constructions in the national capital and referred to the US where it said entire skyscrapers have been airlifted. The court asked the Delhi civic body to speak to Delhi's Lt Governor Anil Baijal on the issue.

The court was hearing a petition seeking removal of unauthorized constructions and encroachment in Karol Bagh. Earlier, the court had directed the police and the Public Works Department's Chief Engineer to submit an inquiry report on people responsible for erecting the giant idol and name those who funded the unauthorized constructions.
