Durga puja is the biggest festival among Bengalis with distinctive and remarkable pandals and unique idols dotting the landscape of West Bengal.

Well, this year, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's supporters will get a chance to 'worship' her alongside 'Durga Ma'.

Prantik, a club in in Chakdaha in Nadia district in south Bengal has constructed an idol of Mamata Banerjee in the likeness of Goddess Durga as a way to honour the Trinamool Congress leader.

"The Chief Minister's statue in her trademark blue-and-white sari and hawai choti (rubber slippers) is about five-and-a-half-feet high," the secretary of Prantik, Saumitra Bhattacharjee told The Hindu. The Durga idol is three-and-a-half feet tall, and placed in front of the CM.

Bhattacharjee also said that the idea to place the Chief Minister behind the Durga idol.

The Chief Minister's fibre glass idol sports a serious expression and has 12 hands, compared to the 10 that the Goddess has. But while the goddess holds weapons in her's, the politician's hands are empty. The background behind the CM depicts the various developmental projects her government has undertaken.
