Ex-BJP MLA falls unconscious while addressing rally, admitted to ICU

Senior BJP leader and former Trilokpuri MLA Sunil Vaid was admitted to a private hospital tonight after he suddenly fell unconscious and collapsed on the stage while delivering his address at the rally of Union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti here


New Delhi: Senior BJP leader and former Trilokpuri MLA Sunil Vaid was admitted to a private hospital tonight after he suddenly fell unconscious and collapsed on the stage while delivering his address at the rally of Union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti here.

"Vaid has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Sarita Vihar. His condition is stated to be serious," said Vinod Tanwar, a BJP leader who took the former MLA to hospital.Tanwar said the incident took place minutes before Union minister Sadhvi reached the venue.

While addressing the rally, in the presence of East Delhi MP Mahesh Giri and other party leaders, Vaid suddenly fell unconscious on the stage. He was immediately taken to the hospital.

A week after her hate speech that triggered widespread outrage, Union minister Sadhvi today addressed two rallies in the capital including one at Trilokpuri of East Delhi which had witnessed communal clashes last month. Aam Aadmi Party had earlier accused Vaid of fomenting the Trilokpuri riots.
