A mentally ill woman, missing for five months from Thane, was reunited with her family, thanks to a non-governmental organisation's (NGO) efforts, aided by a Google search.
Fifty-year-old Fuldevi Sant Lal, a native of Uttar Pradesh (UP), went missing from her relative's house in Thane district's Shahapur area in last year in December. She was found by the police in a state of destitution in the Nallasopara area of Palghar district, reported news agency PTI.
According to a release, the woman was taken in by Samarth Ashram, operated by the NGO Jeevan Anand Sanstha, where volunteers used Google search to identify her village and locate her family.
Although the volunteers at Samarth Ashram were able to trace the woman's village and establish contact with her family shortly after she was admitted, the family faced difficulties in reaching the ashram to bring her back, PTI reported. Various challenges prevented them from making the journey sooner. However, after five months of being separated, the woman was finally reunited with her loved ones when her relatives arrived at the ashram on Sunday to take her home.

A case has been registered against more than 100 people who participated in human chain protests, allegedly conducted without permission, in Maharashtra's Thane district, police reported on Monday.
On Saturday, police registered a first information report (FIR) regarding the protests that took place at six locations in the Mumbra area, an official informed.
The protests took place on the afternoon of May 16 despite prohibitory orders imposed under the Maharashtra Police Act, reported PTI.
More than 100 people participated in the protests, disrupting traffic and violating lawful prohibitory orders, the official stated.
"No permission was granted for this protest. The organisers went ahead, potentially disturbing communal harmony and law and order," the official added.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Police Act, and three accused have been identified.
The agitation was held to protest an expulsion order against a local journalist, it was stated.
