Juvenile victim sexually assaulted inside moving car, three arrested

One doesn't quite make up for the other. Three persons including a juvenile forced a girl to take contraceptive pills after they raped her in their moving Wagon R. The trio allegedly kidnapped her from a public place in Dwarka in southwest Delhi three days ago.

A senior police officer said all the three accused have been arrested and a case of kidnapping and gangrape has been lodged.

Police said that Avnish Yadav, Karambir alias Kundan and his cousin Mohit (name changed as he is juvenile) were arrested on the basis of the allegation made by the victim.

"The victim, Neha (name changed) lives in Palam area. She told the police that she had gone to the local market to fetch some vegetables when Mohit and his friends kidnapped her in their Wagon R. The trio took her to a wooded area near a canal where they raped her inside the car. The culprits then forced her to take contraceptive pills so she didn't get pregnant," said a senior police officer.

The official further stated that Neha was scared and she consumed the contraceptive pills. She then went home and narrated the whole story to her family members who approached the police. Neha was taken to a nearby government hospital where rape was established in her medical examination.

After getting the report, police lodged an FIR of gangrape and kidnapping against the trio and conducted raids.
"We booked Mohit under kidnapping only as he did not rape the victim. He knew the victim and helped his cousin and friend to rape her. The other two, Avnish and Karambir, have been charged with rape. Neha had consumed all the contraceptives, otherwise we would have kept them in our possession as evidence. Perhaps this is first time when a rapist offered the victim contraceptive pills so that she doesn't get pregnant," stated the officer.

The officer said that the victim has been sent to Sema Kutir in the area.

GUILTY OR NOT?

A Delhi court has acquitted a youth of the charges of raping his neighbour after taking her to a place in Jammu and Kashmir in 2008, saying she took a complete U-turn during the trial which belied the prosecution story.

According to the FIR, the girl, a student of class X, was abducted on May 31, 2008, by the accused who took her to Jammu and Kashmir. The accused also raped her during the illegal confinement, it said. The girl, in her statement to a magistrate which was admissible as evidence, supported the allegations levelled against the accused in the FIR saying she was forced to accompany him as he threatened to kill her brother. However, during the trial, the girl took a complete U-turn and testified that she was neither abducted nor raped. The girl said that on the date of the alleged incident she had gone to the residence of her grandmother in another locality here as she had scored less in the Xth examination results, the court said.

The girl, who was declared a hostile witness by the prosecutor, said she lied before the magistrate, it said.
