IAF Chief AP Singh praises Captain Smit Machchhar (File pic)
Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh on Saturday, October 3, praised Flydubai Captain Smit Machchhar for his actions during a recent emergency. Singh described Machchhar's action as "exceptionally brave" and highlighted his physical and mental resolve.
Speaking about Machchhar, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh said, "What he has done is exceptionally brave. He showed great physical and mental resolve. It is a lesson for us," as cited by ANI.
The IAF chief's remarks came as appreciation continues to pour in for Machchhar, whose actions during the incident have drawn attention for his courage and composure under challenging circumstances.
Air Chief Marshal Singh said Machchhar's response demonstrated the importance of maintaining physical and mental strength in situations involving grave danger.
Calling Machchhar's actions a lesson, the IAF chief emphasised the significance of the captain's resolve while dealing with the emergency.
The comments add to the recognition being given to Machchhar for his conduct during the incident. His family members have also received appreciation from public representatives for his courage.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister's office earlier on Thursday, October 1, Fadnavis described Captain Smit as a "true hero" and congratulated him for displaying exceptional courage in a life-threatening situation.
Maharashtra Chief Minister while hailing the captain said, "I am proud of Captain Smit, son of Mumbai and a true hero. Smit saved the lives of hundreds of people in a very extraordinary way."
CM Devendra Fadnavis had also met Machchhar's uncle and aunt and expressed his appreciation for the captain's "extraordinary courage".
Fadnavis said Machchhar displayed remarkable courage at a moment of grave danger, describing his actions as a source of pride for Maharashtra and India.
"In a moment of grave danger, Smit displayed remarkable courage, presence of mind and a deep sense of responsibility, helping save the lives of everyone on board," Fadnavis further added.
He also said that Machchhar's actions during the difficult situation were commendable and said the pilot had made Maharashtra and India proud.
