This is the fourth arrest in the case; police say more arrests likely

In yet another breakthrough in the police crackdown on the IS module in Parbhani, the state Anti-Terrorism Squad officials arrested a fourth person. A 37-year-old zilla parishad school teacher, based in the Hingoli district, was arrested on Monday evening. Additional director general, ATS, Atulchandra Kulkarni confirmed the development and said his role is being probed.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Mohammed Raisoddin, a resident of Azam Colony, Hingoli. He was suspected to be in contact with the other arrested accused and also the IS foreign handler. Raisoddin was detained in the morning, and after several hours of grilling, placed under arrest in the evening.

His name cropped up after the ATS analysed the phone details and online activities of Naser Chaus, Shahid Khan and Iqbal Ahmed Kabir Ahmed, who were arrested earlier and are in police custody till August 12. Sources said that Raisoddin was allegedly involved in influencing others to join IS. He and the other suspects, who are internet-savvy, were using various accounts on social media to communicate.

Earlier, the ATS had found that Chaus and Khan were plotting to bomb the Nanded and Aurangabad police headquarters. They are also suspected of having planned the targeting of a superintendent-level senior officer.
