Parts of Maharashtra on Tuesday continued to witness heatwave conditions, with several districts recording temperatures above 46 degrees Celsius.
The weather department on April 28 issued a yellow alert for parts of Maharashtra, predicting hot weather conditions.
According to a weather bulletin, Amravati recorded the highest maximum temperature at 46.6 degrees Celsius. Heatwave conditions were also reported on Monday, April 27, in multiple districts those recorded high temperatures.
It said that Akola recorded 46.3 degrees Celsius, Amravati (46.6 degrees Celsius), Chandrapur (45.2 degrees Celsius), Nagpur (45.0 degrees Celsius), Wardha (46.5 degrees Celsius) and Yavatmal (45.2 degrees Celsius).
As several districts continue to face severe heatwave conditions, Gondia reported the lowest minimum temperature at 25.2 degrees Celsius on Monday, the weather department said.

According to the weather bulletin issued on Tuesday by Regional Weather Forecasting Centre, IMD Nagpur, both maximum and minimum temperatures remain above normal levels, with no significant change observed.
Meteorological officials said a trough or wind discontinuity is extending from a cyclonic circulation over north Telangana to the Comorin area, passing through interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema and Tamil Nadu.
At the same time, an anti-cyclonic circulation over interior Maharashtra and adjoining Karnataka at higher levels in the atmosphere continues to persist, contributing to the prevailing hot and dry conditions.
A yellow alert has been issued for Nagpur, Wardha, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Amravati, Akola and Yavatmal districts. Authorities have warned of heatwave conditions in isolated pockets.
The alert said, "Heatwave at one or two pockets. Thunderstorm with lightning, gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) at one or two places."
A similar alert has been issued for April 29 and April 30.
The forecast also indicates the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph at isolated locations. Residents have been advised to remain cautious and take necessary precautions.
According to the weather department, during heatwave conditions, it is suggested to avoid heat exposure, wear lightweight, light coloured, loose, cotton clothes, cover your head-- Use a cloth, hat or umbrella, stay in well-ventilated or air-conditioned areas.
