Police officials said Gurram boarded the Pune-bound bus in Hyderabad on September 30. During the journey, his fellow passenger offered him a milkshake when the bus halted near a dhaba at Jahirabad. They said Gurram lost his consciences after drinking the milkshake.

"When the bus was nearing Wakdewadi, the complainant regained consciousness and found that his belongings such as the gold chain, laptop and wallet were missing.
