Modak Sagar overflows

With inadequate rainfall sending alarm bells among the city's residents earlier, Mumbaikars now have something to cheer about.


Modak Sagar, the primary lake that supplies water to the city, breached the overflow mark yesterday at 7.25 am. Located about 100 km away from Mumbai at Khardi near Kasara, the maximum level of the lake is 163.15 metres.u00a0

Last year, the lake started overflowing on July 20, whereas this year it was delayed by almost 20 days with rains playing truant. The total rainfall recorded over this lake till yesterday was 1,087 millimetres.u00a0
