At a time when the Home Minister has stated that he would request the CBI to take over the Satish Shetty case, the brother of the murdered RTI activist has said the family would be happier if R R Patil orders an investigation by the central agency instead of requesting it.

Sandip Shetty, brother of the slain Satish, said, "We appreciate the decision taken by R R Patil in the Assembly, but we will be happier if the announcement becomes an order." Complaining about the investigations, Sandip added that he had filed an affidavit in the high court saying people threatening Satish were not interrogated despite his naming them while submitting his police protection application on November 26.

The Pune rural police are investigating the case. SP Pratap Dighavkar said, "We have clues. The accused has been identified in an identification parade held at Yerwada jail before the magistrate."

In the assembly, Patil had said, "The family is not happy with the investigation by the police. Even though the police are on the right track, I will be requesting the CBI to review and take over the case."
