SSC raids brothel, rescues 13 minors

Personnel of the Social Security Cell raided a brothel yesterday evening and rescued 13 minor girls who were being forced into prostitution in Sagar Building located in the heart of the red light area of Budhwar Peth.


The police have registered a case against the building owner who was identified as Vani Ravindra Shetty (35). The police also arrested a woman who used to run the brothel and booked her under various sections of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.u00a0

A case has been registered at Faraskhana police station. u00a0Police Inspector Bhanupratap Barge said that they received a tip off about the brothel owner and how she was illegally confining the girls.

"Accordingly, we raided the premises and rescued 13 girls. Some of the girls are from Bangladesh while some are from Kolkata," Barge said.
