Star-studded opening ceremony for Warriors' first IPL home match

The first IPL match yesterday at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, where Pune Warriors were playing for the first time on their home ground, saw a grand opening ceremony.


Preity Zinta kick-started the event with a dazzling performance to ‘Gum lo Gum lo Shyam Rang Gum lo' before Pune Warriors India and Kings XI Punjab locked horns in the first DLF IPL 2012 game to be played at the stadium.

Amitabh Bachchan pleasantly surprised the audience by greeting them in Marathi and the cheering crowd gyrated as Priyanka performed a Lavani dance choreographed by Ganesh Hegde. Priyanka wore a typical Marathi saree during her performance and danced to tunes like ‘Gun gun guna re' and ‘Deva Shree Ganesha' from the movie Agnipath.

Bipasha Basu performed to ‘Dola re dola re' and awed the crowds, while Dia Mirza danced to ‘Walha Re Walha'. Prachi Desai danced on ‘Dholi Taro', Neha Dhupia to ‘Ranigolo Maro Dhol' and Jacqueline Fernandez was seen dancing with a group to the tune of ‘Rang De Basanti'.

The atmosphere in the stadium that was charged after an electric performance by the Bollywood stars. Cultural dancers, dhol and tutari players along with 100 lezim dancers added fervor to the event.u00a0
