The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Uttar Pradesh Police have detained two suspects following a stone-pelting incident involving the Lucknow-New Delhi Swarna Shatabdi Express, which was carrying RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, the IANS reported.

The incident occurred on Thursday evening near Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh. No injuries were reported, although a window pane of an AC First Class coach was damaged.

According to railway officials, the train had crossed Makkhanpur station and was travelling through Firozabad district when a stone struck the window of the E-1 coach.

The impact shattered the glass of a window near seat number 54 in the AC First Class compartment. However, no passenger, including Mohan Bhagwat, was injured and there was no damage to the coach interior, the news agency reported.

RPF and police launch joint probe

Following the incident, additional RPF personnel were deployed when the train reached Tundla station to ensure the safety of passengers and railway property.

A case was subsequently registered under Section 152 of the Railways Act based on a complaint lodged by an RPF official.

The RPF and local police then launched a joint investigation to identify those responsible, as per the IANS.

CCTV footage leads to suspects

According to the IANS, the investigators reviewed CCTV camera footage from the area and identified two individuals suspected of involvement in the incident.

Officials said the suspects, believed to be rag-pickers, were seen moving around the railway tracks shortly before the train passed through. One of the suspects was allegedly captured on camera throwing a stone towards the moving train.

The officials are continuing their investigation to determine the exact circumstances behind the incident and whether there was any deliberate motive beyond vandalism.

Senior railway and police officials said all aspects of the case are being examined and further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

"Police teams were working to identify the suspect and both individuals were later apprehended for questioning," officials said.

No threat to passengers
