The Maharashtra legislature Friday revoked the one-year suspension slapped on 14 opposition legislators -- 13 from Shiv Sena and one from Bharatiya Janata Party -- for undisciplined behaviour in the house.

The members had been suspended for a year March 30 after they brought an idol of Lord Ganesh and performed 'aarti' and 'puja' inside the house.

They were protesting against the March 24 theft of a 1.50 kg gold idol of the deity from a temple in Diveagar in Ratnagiri district, in which two security guards were killed.

The suspended members were Pratap Sarnaik, Mahadev Babar, Vijay Shivtare, Eknath Shinde, Vinod Ghosalkar, Rajan Vichare, Dyanraj Chougule, Sanjay Gavande, Sujit Minchekar, Abhijit Adsul, Balaji Kinikar, Chandrakant Mokate and Daulat Daroda (all Shiv Sena), and Ram Shinde (BJP).

The developments took place on the final day of the budget session of the legislature after repeated pleas and protests by the opposition on the issue since the past three weeks.
