Vijay Madgavkar, a resident of Vartak Nagar, Thane, lived alone at his apartment since his wife and kid left him. He joined a computer class in 2009, where he met Dolly, his class teacher. The two fell in love and began living together.

Dolly and Vijay had a baby boy, who was staying with Dolly's mother in Goa. According to police, the couple had constant arguments since the past year.
