A 26-year-old nurse working with a private hospital has registered a case of kidnapping at Naupada police station on Friday night. The women in her statement to the police said that she was allegedly kidnapped by an auto-rickshaw driver and two unknown persons.
Her husband who is the complainant in the case claims that her wife works as a nurse with a private hospital in Hariniwas Circle in Naupada, Thane. On Friday night at around 8pm, she was heading back home when she realised that the petrol in her scooter was depleting.
"She boarded an auto-rickshaw from Hari-niwas circle to get fuel from the petrol pump. Incidentally a kilometer ahead two unknown persons tried to stop the auto-rickshaw claiming emergencies. "The two people boarded the auto-rickshaw and used smothered her with a handkerchief containing chloroform, which rendered her unconscious. She gained consciousness in Balkum, where she claims that she was thrown on the road. With the help of an biker she returned to her residence and narrated the ordeal to her husband. She then approached the police station on Friday night to register a case," added the police official from Naupada police station, who are further investigating the matter.
A case has been registered by Naupada police under section 363 (Punishment of Kidnapping) of the Indian penal code. "We have gathered CCTV footage where the auto-rickshaw is seen clearly passing a junction. But we cant clearly see the number of the auto-rickshaws. Tracing them is on."
