Maharashtra Minister Uday Samant has said that the state will raise gas supply, fuel and export concerns of industries with the Centre, reported the PTI.

Industries in Maharashtra are reportedly facing difficulties due to the ongoing crisis in West Asia.

Samant assured that the industries facing problems will receive support from the state government.

Speaking to reporters after meeting industrial associations and factory owners in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, the minister said the state would raise issues includuing export finance, banking challenges and fuel supply with the central government.

Samant said the concerns of industries affected by the ongoing conflict involving United States, Israel and Iran would be discussed with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

He said the state expects relief in export-related matters and financial support from banks.

"Alternative arrangements for fuel also need to be made, but at the same time we must work on long-term solutions. We will seek these from the Centre," Samant said.

Gas supply concerns for industries

Industries in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in Maharashtra currently have gas stocks that may last between three and 12 days, the minister said, according to the PTI.

To address the situation, the local administration has been instructed to hold a joint meeting with gas supply companies. Similar meetings are expected to take place in other industrial cities as well.

Samant added that if necessary, the state government would also meet Hardeep Singh Puri, the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, to discuss fuel supply issues, as per the PTI.

Action against unused industrial land

Maharashtra Industry Minister Uday Samant also said notices have been issued to several companies that have not used the land allotted to them for many years.

According to Samant, some companies have been holding land for 12 to 15 years without starting operations, the news agency reported.

However, he clarified that firms with genuine expansion plans would not face any problems from the government.

Plans for industrial expansion

The Maharashtra government has decided to acquire around 8,000 acres of land in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to support future industrial growth.

Samant said work is already underway to implement memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth ₹60,000 crore, and the city could attract additional investments of about ₹ 40,000 crore in the coming years, the PTI reported.

The minister also warned of strict action if any irregularities are found in gas distribution.

He said the administration has been instructed to act firmly against malpractices as per the provisions mentioned in a recently issued government gazette.
