Vishal Tambe elected as chairman of PMC's standing committee

Soon after the election, Tambe announced his ambitious plan of connecting the committee office to all the 14 ward offices in the city through video-conferencing network


After emerging victorious in a triangular fight for the key post of the chairman of the standing committee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Vishal Tambe yesterday announced his ambitious plan of connecting the committee office to all the 14 ward offices in the city through video-conferencing network.

"Establishing the video-conferencing network is my utmost priority. I think it will be functional in the next two months," he said.

After being elected, Tambe made several promises and assured that the civic administration will pay heed to the intricacy and needs of the citizens.

He also assured proper implementation of e-governance in the functioning of the civic body. A nominee of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Tambe won the election by 2 votes. He defeated his key rival from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rival Hemant Rasne. Tambe received nine votes, while Rasne polled six votes.

To avoid any untoward incident during election process, over 50 police were deputed in the PMC main building.
