Speaking at the summit, PM Modi said, “AI too is a transformative power — if directionless, it leads to disruption, but with the right direction, it becomes a solution,” said PM Modi. “AI must be given an open sky, while command must remain in human hands"
PM Modi introduced what he called the ‘MANAV’ vision for AI, presenting it as India’s human-centric framework for the 21st Century. “We must give AI an open sky, but also keep the command in our own hands. Like GPS suggests the route, but the final call on which direction to take remains ours. The direction we take AI in today will determine our future. Friends, today at the New Delhi AI Impact Summit, I present the ‘MANAV’ vision for AI -- MANAV, which means a human-centric Indian vision for AI,” he said
Speaking at the summit, French President Emmanuel Macron lauded India's digital transformation and its pioneering role in technology governance, describing the nation's progress as a global benchmark. He further emphasised that India has set a unique precedent that remains unmatched globally. "India built something that no other country in the world has built. A digital identity for 1.4 billion people. A payment system that now processes 20 billion transactions every month. A health infrastructure that has issued 500 million digital health IDs. Here are the results. They call it the India Stack Open Interoperable Sovereign," he noted
Meanwhile, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said AI must not replace human potential, but supplement it. “We must invest in workers, so AI augments human potential - not replaces it,” he said, addressing a major fear about AI. He called for tackling the looming social, economic, and ecological problems from the proliferation of AI. “Real impact means technology that improves lives and protects the planet,” he said, adding, “So, let’s build AI for everyone - with dignity as the default setting”
Google CEO Sundar Pichai also addressed the summit. He described AI as ushering in an era of "hyper progress", with the potential to unlock new scientific discoveries and help emerging economies bypass traditional development stages. Pichai said no technology has made him "dream bigger" than AI, highlighting its transformative potential across science, education, and economic growth
Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran, meanwhile, said that the conglomerate is in the process of adopting AI across the stack while also looking to produce chips for multiple industries with the first set expected to cater to the automotive sector, said on Thursday. Speaking at the AI Impact Summit, he noted that the Tata Group is building AI capability based on the diverse Indian data
During his welcome address at the inaugural session, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a major outcome of the India AI Impact Summit, unveiling the "New Delhi Frontier AI Commitments" as a shared voluntary framework adopted by leading global and Indian AI companies
