However a red alert signifies a critical 'take action' warning, advising people to avoid exposure to the heat, drink plenty of fluids, and reduce outdoor activities. It highlights a very high risk of heat illness and heat stroke for people of all ages, urging caution for vulnerable individuals

Dr. Naresh Kumar, a senior scientist at the IMD, has indicated that the intense heat gripping northwest India—including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan—is expected to last until June 12th

The city is also experiencing poor air quality, with an AQI of 225 recorded at 2 PM. The IMD predicts partly cloudy skies for June 12th and 13th, accompanied by dust storms and winds gusting up to 60 kmph

According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures are anticipated to drop slightly after June 14th
