The fire caused significant damage to 20-22 tents, but no lives were lost, and no injuries were reported, according to officials. DIG Vaibhav Krishna reassured the public, stating that the fire was "completely controlled" by the fire brigade, and no injuries occurred.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by officials, with no conclusive details provided yet. This fire marks the third such incident in the Mahakumbh Mela area, with two other fires having occurred earlier this year.

On January 19, a cylinder blast caused a major fire in Sector 19, destroying over a dozen camps, though no casualties were reported. Another fire broke out on January 25 in Sector 2 of the Mahakumbh fair area, involving two cars, with a short circuit being identified as the cause.

The fires have raised concerns regarding safety at the Maha Kumbh Mela, especially considering the large number of tents and visitors present. Despite the challenges, the response from fire officials has been swift and effective in all fire incidents at the event.

The UP government is investigating whether the fire was caused by any negligence or unsafe practices at the camps or surrounding areas. The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, will run until February 26, with additional "snan" dates on February 12 (Maghi Purnima) and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).
