With a staggering carrying capacity of 24,346 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units), MSC IRINA symbolizes the expanding scale of global trade and India’s growing prominence in international logistics

Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan hailed the event as a proud and historic moment for the state, noting that MSC IRINA is the largest container ship to ever call at any South Asian port

The MSC IRINA, launched in March 2023 and beginning its maiden voyage in April, is specially designed to transport large volumes of containers efficiently between Asia and Europe. It can stack containers up to 26 tiers high, giving it an unmatched carrying capacity
