The route that the train with the Vistadome coach attached traverses the Konkan region and is considered to be one of the most beautiful routes to take by train. As per General Manager DK Sharma, one can enjoy the scenic route in the daytime thanks to the glass roof, wide glass windows and exclusive observation lounge for a panoramic view
The coaches of the Vistadome are state of the art. For the first time in Indian history, the Vistadome will revolutionalise the way people travel. The train was being plied between Araku Valley and Vizag, which was created by Integrated Coach Factory (ICF). it has now been put on the Dadar-Madgaon route and as per the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Central Railway Ravinder Goyal, such coaches are rarely found even in Switzerland. He says that these coaches are very beautiful and their design is very unique
In a statement, the Central Railway General Manager D K Sharma said, 'A standout feature is a roof that boasts electrically controlled opalescence. It can be made transparent for the passengers to get a panoramic view of their journeys. And if passengers want a still better view, they can head to the special observation lounge. It also has a multi-tier luggage rack. '
The tickets are likely to be priced at rates that are higher than most low-cost airlines. At Rs 3000 a seat, the Vistadome has received a fairly lacklustre response on its first run between Dadar to Madgaon
Until Thursday morning, only 3 seats of the 40 seats on the Vistadome coach were booked. No seats are booked for September 23 and 25th and six seats have been booked for September 28th. Interestingly, all seats have been booked for September 30th
