What began as a sarcastic internet response to controversial “cockroach” and “parasite” remarks aimed at unemployed youth has now transformed into one of South Asia’s biggest digital satire movements. India’s viral ‘Cockroach Janta Party’ or CJP has exploded across Instagram and meme culture, crossing millions of followers and turning frustration, unemployment anxiety, and Gen-Z humour into a full-scale online phenomenon. Now, the movement appears to be crossing borders. Pakistani social media platforms are witnessing the rise of similar satire-driven pages, including the emerging ‘Cockroach Awami Party’, which openly references inspiration from India’s viral meme movement. With green-and-white branding, ironic political messaging, and Gen-Z meme culture at its core, the Pakistani spin-offs are attempting to recreate the same anti-establishment internet energy that made CJP go massively viral in India.
