Gateshead: A helium balloon released by a young boy on his ninth birthday appears to have travelled 5,000 miles across the Atlantic. Cole Bell let go of the balloon in Gateshead in England on his birthday on July 16 this year.
On October 1, the family received a postcard saying the balloon had reached Las Vegas, Nevada in the US. Bell and his parents have released a balloon every birthday with their address on it, but it's the first time that someone's actually responded with a postcard, saying the balloon had reached Nevada.
